Watertown Athletics Sportsmanship Expectations
Sportsmanship is the foundation of our athletic program, and athletics is an extension of the classroom. All student-athletes, parents, and spectators share the responsibility of promoting respect, fair play, and positive conduct toward opponents, coaches, officials, and teammates. Student-athletes are expected to represent their school with pride, conduct themselves with dignity, support their team through positive encouragement, respect opponents and officials, play by the rules, and model good character at all times. Parents and spectators are expected to be positive role models by encouraging effort and growth, cheering respectfully, applauding the efforts of all participants, understanding the game, and maintaining dignity in every situation. For everyone, the expectations are simple: applaud good performances on both sides, respect the rules and those who enforce them, demonstrate self-control, and always win with humility and lose with grace.
